I especially adore the prints that Alice Temperley came up with for her Temperley London collection. Prints seemed to be really popular in Resort 2011; it’s a pity I didn’t fancy too many of them ):

Stuff’s happened over the past two months. I’ve (unofficially) graduated from University, found a job in an industry I really wanted to get into (yay!), and while I’m not particularly well-endowed in the finance department at the moment like I’ve always envisioned myself to be after getting a job, I’m pretty much happy with where I am in life at the moment. I get to be around clothes and bags and shoes and accessories at work, so I’m not quite sure what better deal I could’ve gotten ;)

Anyway, I’m a little very late to the party, but I just started looking through the Fall 2010 RTW collections, and I have to say that I’ve been completely floored by some of the designers, some of whom I haven’t even heard of before. Then again, I guess I hear of very little designers, and mainly from reading blogs and such. In any case, I hope to post some of the incredibly gorgeous designs next post.

To celebrate mother’s day, my mom brought the entire family “trekking” at the Southern Ridges. We got on the bridge along Alexandra Road, and ended up at Mount Faber. According to my dad, we walked like 4 kilometers or something like that.

Everyone brought cameras except for my brother, which naturally made him Superstar of the Day. At first he was really enthusiastic…

… but then he ran out of gas really quickly.

(Sorry for the totally inconsistent lighting. I was trying to make the photos look arty, but then I realized that it didn’t really work very well with people in the photos. Ahem.)

So anyway, there were tons of walking, getting mildly disoriented, spying on my brother doing weird pee poses, and then more walking. We did so much walking my thighs died on me. Again. Well, they never really recovered from Friday’s Hip Hop dance session, but I was totally feeling the ache all over again this morning.

Then we arrived at the Henderson Wave. At least I think that’s what it’s called?

It’s super duper long and I thought it was something like 400 meters above ground, but I’ve got so extreme a fear of height that anything above 50 meters off-ground looks like 500 meters to me, so I don’t know how accurate my estimations are.

So that’s about it! I was surprised there weren’t more people on the Henderson Wave though, since it’s got a great view and is really well-designed and everything. They even have these parts of the bridge where you can sit around and chill and… stuff. Good spot for dating, me thinks :D

Been pretty busy the past few days working on the website and stuff, but Pirate Theory finally went live about two days ago! As the picture suggests, Pirate Theory’s my new online venture into fashion retail. It’s essentially the reincarnation of Delilah Muse, because I thought Delilah Muse was too girly a name for the kind of clothes I wanted to sell. I am thinking I might set up a line of Delilah Muse clothing in the future though, because I do like me some pretty silk and chiffon dresses that would be pretty befitting of the name :D

VISIT PIRATE THEORY

So I had lunch at the most obscure place today with Jareth, Roomie & Gwen.

Except it wasn’t as in-the-middle-of-nowhere as I thought it might be because apparently a lot of people know about this place. But do not be fooled by A Lot Of People. The food here is more like a 3.7 than a 7.3. Please don’t ever order Fish & Chips. I hope it gradually fades into obscurity so they will think about reworking the recipe.

After that we went to watch Kick Ass.

Holy. Shit. I really should’ve read up a review before I went for the movie. I went in thinking the movie’s an action comedy but boy, I was waaaay off. Warning bells should’ve gone off when I saw that the tickets were labeled M18, but man, the violence in that movie? It will make you shit bricks. Not to say it isn’t a great movie, because after thinking about it for a while, the deeper messages beneath the surface begin to sink in. To be honest though, I had my eyes shut and my fingers in my ears for maybe a third of all the “action” (gore, cough) scenes.
Which makes me wonder, am I ever going to be able to go through an entire thriller/gore (no horror because I never watch horror) movie with my eyes open throughout?

Ughhh, this pair of heels is an absolute sex bomb! But I already have 10 dozen pairs of 4 to 5-inch heels sitting around my house, never been worn and never will be. Damn impulse purchases.

I went and caught Alice in Wonderland with two friends from hall last night – like finally! I’ve been waiting to watch the movie since the previews first got revealed some time last year. It wasn’t as climatic as I thought it would be, but I certainly wasn’t disappointed. My favourite characters, by ranking, are Chessur (The Cheshire Cat), The Mad Hatter and The March Hare. I love how morally ambiguous Chessur is, and it’s a wonder that Alice in Wonderland could be qualified as a children’s fairytale at all with Chessur in the cast, hahaha.

Anyway, Alice ranks somewhere at the bottom, mayhaps above the mushrooms in the background and below the Red Queen. Part of the reason why I didn’t like this movie as much as I wanted to was because Tim Burton kind of pulled a WTF? on me and made the movie into a half coming-of-age film. What happened to the gloriously weird and semi-creepy Tim Burton in Alice in Wonderland? The starting was absolutely lame and a waste of a good half an hour that could’ve went into… I don’t know, character developments for the White Queen or more scenes with Chessur in it (lol).

I do think the movie redeemed itself towards the end, but I still can’t help but think that it could’ve been way, way more epic if Burton had just ditched the whole “I totally don’t fit into this society boo hoo hoo” premise of the show.

In any case! I can’t believe there’s going to be a movie for the Wimpy Kid series. Catch the movie trailer here – my brother’s going to be such a fan, hahaha.

All in all, a pretty good trip I guess?

A lot of people (including very popular fashion bloggers) claim that Lady Gaga’s style is trashy or that she’s got no style at all, but in my honest opinion, she’s sort of like an icon in her own way, no?
